It was almost 25 years ago when a publishing company heard the ‘Seek Ye First’ story and asked me to write a book of that and other stories of my ministry. I did try….. but just couldn’t get it together. It’s always been in the back of my mind though.
About two years ago, My friend Becky Hefty, who is a great writer, came to mind as a possibility of someone to help me. She agreed and now we are in process. Becky and I are both very busy… she serving with Mission Builders International in Montana and editing other books; and I traveling the globe teaching and giving concerts. Every few months, Becky comes down to Santa Fe and we spend a few weeks on it. Basically, I am telling my story and she is writing it. So… I guess she’s my Ghost Writer . It looks like we may be coming up with two books…. the first more of a auto biography and the second will be more of a teaching book.
Becky is a joy to work with. I can’t imagine being more comfortable with anyone to tackle this project. I would appreciate your prayers as we continue to work on it.
I was so bless recently to get this email from a brother who shared with me how God had used the song Seek Ye First in his life. I’ve gotten a few of these through the years. I’ve decided to start sharing these stories with you all. Isn’t it amazing how God can use something so simple as a little scripture chorus. Of course, the key is that it is God’s Word
Email received February 1, 2011 Dear Karen, I just revisited your song “Seek ye first” with my children in our own little family worship time. I cried. Not because the little song is just good, but because it is your song that drove that scripture into my heart as a very young child. Now I remember that as the first moment that I can remember that I made a commitment to Jesus. That little song changed my life. It is where I start my testimony and the moment that God broke in and met me and I understood it. I just wanted to let you know that you changed my life by writing that song. Thank you so much!
Karen receives 2009 Radio Mic Award from George Hamilton IV
Karen has been associated with Paul Davis in England since he helped book her tours there in the 80s. Paul now heads up the organization New Christian Music. This organization has many facets, all of which help to encourage Christian musicians and promote their music.
Once a month NCM mails a promo CD with 20 songs on it to about 400 radio stations around the world.Karen has had four songs from her new worship CD Singing My Heart Out over the past two years. The list includes Singing My Heart Out, Seek Ye First, God’s in This Place and How Wonderful Your Name. The stations that receive these promo CDs can send a comment sheet back to NCM letting them know which songs they are going to give air play to and how they rate them.
Karen performs with others at the NCM Awards Weekend
From these feedback forms, NCM then determines which artist should receive a ‘Radio Mic Award’. Karen has been given a Radio Mic Award for three years in a row for ‘American Female Worship Artist’. All of the songs have rated high on the NCM charts. Karen was able to attend the NCM Awards Weekend at Leighton Buzzard, England to receive her award in March 2009.

Christian Brother & Guitarist In the Presence of God
I only really knew him for the few days he came to Santa Fe to play guitar on my “Singing My Heart Out” CD, but that was long enough to know that he was a great brother in the Lord. Rocky went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2009. I don’t know details, but I do know that he had one operation on a brain tumor a few months ago. His death was likely complications from that.
Rocky was an easy going, dedicated musician who “played his heart out”. I am privileged to have had him play on my CD. I’m glad that album, along with several other of his own and others will help memorialize him and the things he accomplished in his short life time in the area of music and for God.
Please pray for his wife Jena and their soon to be born baby. Here is the message that his family sent out about him. May God be close to all of them right now as they learn to live out the rest of their lives with out Rocky. Praise God that there WILL be a reuniting time in God’s presence.
